I am a MSW intern committed to advancing social justice and equity through trauma-informed, client-centered practice. I bring a systems-level perspective to social work, informed by my lived experience as a person of color, and neurodivergent woman. I have worked in advocacy, and community outreach with marginalized populations, including through disability rights, LGBTQ+ support and gender-affirming care. I approach this work with both critical analysis and deep empathy, recognizing that meaningful change requires addressing root causes rather than surface-level symptoms.
Throughout my field education and professional development, I have focused on creating space for clients to define their own goals and solutions. I am especially drawn to work that centers the voices of those most impacted by systemic inequity. For me, social work is about redistribution of power, and ensuring that resources, dignity, and autonomy reach those who have been historically excluded.
Outside of my professional life, I recharge through creative and physical pursuits including exercise, hiking, photography, art, and fusion cooking that blends Panamanian and Mediterranean traditions. While I am a child of an immigrant, my roots in New Mexico are deeply central to who I am as a person. As I complete my MSW journey, I remain committed to practicing social work that honors complexity, challenges injustice, and builds authentic relationships with the communities I serve.
