My name is Jude Chavez, and I am a clinical mental health counseling intern from the University of New Mexico. I currently hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology with an emphasis in addictions counseling and am pursuing my master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling and Addiction’s Counseling. I have over a decade of experience in healthcare, and I got my start in nursing where I was able to serve individuals affected by a variety of medical and behavioral health issues. I have worked in acute care, residential/inpatient, detox, and outpatient settings. I utilize my wealth of experience to find connection and help individuals understand the process of change.
My primary focus is to make mental health treatment accessible. I approach treatment with a holistic lens of the individual and I utilize a strengths-based approach coupled with motivational interviewing and aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy.
My goal is to make a difference and ensure that clients have a safe, healing, and nonjudgemental space where they are supported, empowered, and heard.
