Multisystemic therapy (MST) is a highly intensive home-based, outpatient therapy program that assists families of youth who are at risk of living outside of their home. These factors may include, but are not limited to homelessness, detention (being arrested), state custody placements, or residential treatment facility (RTC) placements. Families of youth who face these risks may struggle with physicaland verbal aggression, substance abuse, negative peers, increases in parent-child conflict, as well as the Juvenile Justice System (JJS) involvement and Children Youth and Families Department (CYFD)/ Child Protective Services (CPS) involvement.
In order to meet the needs of each family we work with, MST Therapists meet families in their homes or anywhere in the community (telehealth may also be utilized)-thus, offering families flexibility, comfort, and autonomy from traditional office settings. Treatment will last between three and five months (with an average length of four months). MST Therapists meet with families several times a week and engage in regular check-in’s as necessary MST utilizes a team approach which allows families 24/7 access to a therapist to help navigate struggles that occur during the treatment process. Treatment is tailored towards the needs of each family taking in to account all cultural aspects of the family,
