Hello there, my name is April. As a local girl I grew up here in Lea County, New Mexico where my parents were active in healthcare and Law Enforcement. From a young age I knew that I wanted to use my life to help others, and to that end I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from Eastern New Mexico University. I spent a few years in Special Education/Special Needs as a Special Education Teacher. I then worked in Child Protection Services (CYFD) where my main priority was helping families come up with their unique treatment plan. I also have experience in Multi-Systemic Therapy, Juvenile Community Corrections, as well as Care Coordination. I’m a soft spoken, old soul, young spirit and that helps youth feel comfortable opening up to me. I believe in using up to date music, TV shows, and gaming consoles to bond with youth and help understand their perspective on what happened to or around them to cause them to act out or just have a difficult time.
All Hands On Deck LCC was made with an MST model in mind. I wholeheartedly believe families should have access to the natural resources they require in a time of need. All Hands On Deck LCC will assist families in locating those resources, empowering parents, and aiding youths in navigating the overwhelming/stressful time in their lives where they are discovering and transitioning into who they want to be as an adult.
