Hi there!
My name is Esperanza Martinez, I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), and aspiring Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I began my social work journey at Central New Mexico Community College and worked my way to earning my BSW in 2020, and MSW in 2021 at New Mexico Highlands University. In my internships, I worked with grassroots organizations and child protective services serving our community doing advocacy and adoption consultation work. Upon graduation I worked at Children, Youth, and Families Services, as an in-home services practitioner, then as a program clinician for a local agency, where I found my passion in individual and family therapy.
I was born and raised in northern New Mexico, I experienced many Hispanic traditional virtues, and since branching out have continued to grow with the connections I have made. In the individuals, groups, and organizations, I have learned the importance of trauma-informed care, cultural competence/sensitivity, and meeting my clients where they are.
Using a strengths-based approach, cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, art therapy, and therapeutic play with youth ages 6 up to 18 years old and their family I have found enjoyment and passion in my work. I continue to learn to grow my practice and in my time as a clinician worked extensively with telehealth where I have learned to use and create interactive resources to meet client needs. I have grown confidence in my clinical skills and look forward to helping others learn to be more mindful, hopeful, and their best selves.
