Hello! I am Maria Morales, and I am a licensed mental health counselor in Albuquerque, NM. I earned my master’s degree in professional counseling from Grand Canyon University, and I am so happy to be considered as your therapist!
I have experience working with those afflicted by drugs and alcohol, seeking to change themselves into a better person. I have experience in group counseling and individual counseling, focusing on drug and alcohol addiction, using coping strategies to fend off future drug and alcohol use and abuse. I am fluent in Spanish and English and can provide both group and individual therapy in both languages.
A little about myself. I decided to become a therapist early in 2017, prior to that I worked as a public servant for a state agency. What I enjoyed the most working for the state was being able to help and provide services for those vulnerable young adults and parents struggling in their life. I enjoyed being part of a system that helped families become stronger and better at what they do as parents. I enjoy working one to one with people who have a story to tell.
I became a therapist because I want to reach out to others and help them through some of their most difficult times in their life. I take what was once a strong aspect of themselves and bring that back to life during counseling. Making a difference in people who want to work on themselves, is the best part of being a therapist.
The theories I use in my practice include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client Centered, Psychoanalysis, and Psychodynamic approach, and many more.
I provide patient, caring counseling services for teenagers, adults of all ages.
