Lindsay W., MSW Intern

Hello!

My name is Lindsay Walters, and I am an MSW Intern. I graduated from San Juan College in 2023 with an Associate’s degree in Human Services with a focus on substance abuse treatment. I went on to earn my Bachelor of Social Work degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Western New Mexico University in 2025. I am currently pursuing my Master of Social Work degree and expect to graduate in December 2026.

Throughout my education and professional experiences, I have developed a strong passion for helping individuals overcome challenges and improve their overall well-being. I have experience working in substance use treatment with both adults and adolescents, supporting clients as they navigate recovery and work toward achieving their personal goals. I have also worked in behavioral health crisis care, where I assisted individuals experiencing acute mental health crises and connected them with appropriate resources and support services.

In addition, I have experience working with elementary-aged children, helping to support their social, emotional, and behavioral development. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of the importance of meeting clients where they are, building trusting relationships, and utilizing a strengths-based approach to support positive change.

My professional interests include mental health, substance use treatment, trauma-informed care, health equity, and working with underserved populations. I am excited to continue growing as a social worker and expanding my skills through my MSW program and internship experiences.
